Call to book
Every trip from here starts on the A2. Express Travel Kent publishes typical airport times for Canterbury, not for Aylesham, so this site shows the Canterbury figures and says so plainly: the car first heads up the A2 to Canterbury, and your journey is longer by that stretch. The pickup time is agreed with you at booking, counted back from your flight.
You see the price for the whole car before you confirm, and motorway traffic on the day does not move it. Further down: the villages we collect from, the four stations on the Dover line, the usual road to each airport and answers to common questions.
Airport Transfer Service
Each card shows the typical door-to-terminal time Express Travel Kent publishes for Canterbury. A trip from Aylesham joins that same route after its first run up the A2, so it takes longer by that part of the drive. Other airports on request.

Local Knowledge
Aylesham lies 6.5 miles south-east of Canterbury and 8.5 miles north-west of Dover, close to the A2, the old road between the two. Whichever airport you fly from, the car sets off north-west on the A2. The road bypasses Canterbury city centre and carries on to Brenley Corner, where it meets the M2 at junction 7.
From that point the routes split exactly as they do for a Canterbury pickup, which is why the times on this site carry Canterbury's name. Express Travel Kent has no separate published figure for Aylesham and we do not make one up: the time you need to leave is worked out with you for your own address and flight.
The usual road beyond the M2:
Areas We Cover
Any address in Aylesham or the nine villages around it can be the start of an airport or long-distance trip. Prices are calculated for the exact address, so each village has its own.
The colliery village laid out in the 1920s and the homes built since the expansion was approved in 2012. Collection from your address, on the original avenues or in the newer streets.
The hamlet beside the former colliery, with its own station on Holt Street. Pickups from the houses or from the station.
The village on the B2046, with a station on the Dover line and the church of the Holy Innocents, which dates from around the late 12th century.
A parish with three conservation areas and more than fifty listed buildings, among them St Albans Court. Aylesham itself was part of Nonington parish until 1951.
Womenswold lies about a mile east of the A2. Woolage Village is the triangular estate of around sixty homes built near the Snowdown pit in the early 1920s; Woolage Green completes the parish.
The village below Barham Downs, with the A2 along the north-east edge of the parish and Broome Park at its south-east corner.
The village beside Goodnestone Park, the house built in 1704 that Jane Austen visited, now a setting for weddings and events.
Shepherds Well station on Station Road has direct trains to Dover and to London via Faversham, and the heritage East Kent Railway starts beside it.
Upper and Lower Eythorne, about 7 miles north-north-west of Dover, at the far end of the heritage line from Shepherdswell.

Book Your JourneyPickup Points
Four stations on the Dover branch serve this corner of Kent. None of them has a car park for passengers, but National Rail lists a drop-off and pick-up point at each, so any of the four can be the meeting point for an airport or long-distance trip.
Southeastern runs an hourly train each way to London Victoria and to Dover Priory, with extra peak trains to London Bridge and Cannon Street. The ticket office opens on weekday and Saturday mornings only. No station car park.
Unstaffed, and with no step-free access to the platforms. If you are carrying heavy cases, say so when you book so that the right car and meeting point are arranged.
No station car park; a drop-off and pick-up point is listed. Handy for addresses on the Adisham side of the catchment.
Direct trains to Dover and to London via Faversham. Staff are on hand on weekday mornings only, and the car waits at the drop-off point.
The Queen Anne house and gardens host weddings, private celebrations and corporate events. Guests flying in can be set down there and collected at the end of the evening: give the finishing time when you book.
Beyond the Airport
The cars and drivers that handle airport runs from Aylesham also take on other longer journeys, each priced in full before you travel.
01Trips to London, to other UK cities, or to relatives in another part of Britain. Aylesham was settled by mining families from South Wales, Scotland and the North East, and the A2 and M2 lead to the motorways for all three.
02An executive car for meetings, offices and events in London, or a run through the Blackwall Tunnel to London City Airport, for anyone who would rather work in the back seat than change trains at Victoria.
03An executive saloon for a Goodnestone Park wedding, an evening out in London or a day of appointments, with car and driver at your disposal for a few hours or a whole day.
04Pupils and students driven between home and school, college, university or an airport when term begins or ends, or for an exchange visit, booked by a parent for the exact address.
05Dover lies 8.5 miles south-east down the A2, with two cruise terminals on its Western Docks; Southampton's five are a longer run. Choose the estate or the MPV for a fortnight of luggage.
Journey Times
These are Express Travel Kent's typical door-to-terminal times from Canterbury. From an Aylesham-area address the drive up the A2 to Canterbury comes first, so allow longer; the exact pickup time is agreed with you when you book.
| Typical time from Canterbury | Usual route after the A2 and M2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Gatwick (North or South) | 1h 15m – 1h 45m | M25 and the M23 south |
| Heathrow (Terminals 2–5) | 2h – 2h 30m | M25 westbound |
| Stansted | 1h 45m – 2h 15m | Dartford Crossing and the M11 |
| Luton | 2h – 2h 30m | Dartford Crossing and the M25 |
| London City | 1h 30m – 1h 50m | A2 into London, Blackwall Tunnel |
The figures are Canterbury's; a pickup in Aylesham adds the A2 between the two. Real traffic changes all of them, and lanes on the M2 and M25 are often shut overnight for roadworks. None of it alters the price you agreed.
Local Knowledge
Aylesham is growing. Dover District Council permitted up to 1,210 new homes in November 2012, raised that to 1,360 in 2020, and counted 1,217 of them built by 31 March 2025. If you live in one of the newer streets, give the house number and full postcode when you book, and add a note if the front door is hard to find from the road.
Families usually run out of boot space before they run out of seats. An estate fits four people and three or four big cases, the MPV fits six and four or more, and child seats come on request.
Commuters know the Dover line well. Aylesham's hourly trains go straight to London Victoria, but none of them reaches an airport, so a flight still means a change in London with luggage. None of the four stations has a car park either, which is why so many airport trips start at the front door instead.
Common Questions
Because those are the times Express Travel Kent publishes, and there is no published figure for Aylesham itself. The car follows the A2 to Canterbury before joining the same route, so expect the trip to take longer than the Canterbury range by that stretch. Your pickup time is agreed with you when you book.
Yes. Any address in Aylesham, Adisham, Snowdown, Nonington, Womenswold, Woolage Village, Barham, Goodnestone, Shepherdswell or Eythorne. The booking system quotes the fixed fare for the exact address you type in.
No. National Rail lists no parking spaces at Aylesham, Adisham, Snowdown or Shepherds Well. A pre-booked airport transfer from your address means there is nothing to park.
Gatwick asks passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flight, so aim to be at the terminal by 4am. Take off the drive (Canterbury's typical range is 1h 15m to 1h 45m, and the A2 stretch from Aylesham comes on top) and leave a margin for overnight roadworks. We confirm the exact time with you when you book.
No. Once you confirm, the price for the car stays put through jams, roadworks, diversions, a pre-dawn start or a bank holiday. It can only grow if the trip does: waiting past the free period, an extra stop, or car park fees and tolls on the way.
Book the MPV, which has six seats and room for four or more big cases. Child seats can be fitted on request; tell us the children's ages.
Yes. Dover's two cruise terminals are at the Western Docks, a short run down the A2 from Aylesham, and Southampton's terminals are covered too. Give the ship and the terminal when you book.
